My name is Frances Hayden and I’m a VSO volunteer on a year’s plcement in Central Kenya. I am working as a Business Development Advisor with Vision Gardens, a Community Based Organistion providing valuable support and services to people living with HIV and AIDS and orphans and other vulnerable childern.
Mukurwe-ini, the rural area I am living and working, is about 150km from Nairobi and not too far from Mount Kenya. The people are very friendly and welcoming, the scenery is beautiful and the food is great. I’m hoping to learn how to cook some of the local dishes on my one-ring gas stove!

Hi,
I have just read your story, and felt that someone else has gone through what am going through. I am due for a placement, and your stories have given me an insight of what to expect. The anxiety is just too much, especially not knowing what to expect, or where your placement is.
I feel a little better!
